Of course, some people wouldn't be smart no matter how much they
cared, but in general, nerdiness is about a love of learning/knowledge
(which makes you smarter, I guess, in that you know more information,
but that's not all that being smart is). The point is, while there
ARE geniuses who are nerds, for the most part it's not about having
superior intelligence. Most non-nerds just don't try, they assume
they're not as smart and thus become not as smart, they don't realize
their potential.
